BACKSTORY

Founded by a former Funds Management executive who had grown disillusioned with the industry and its often questionable ethics, along with the time it took from his young family.

Leaving the industry in 2018 he began consulting to small business’ offering insights and advice to help businesses succeed, as well as coaching and mentoring a select group of clients to navigate the corporate badlands. Having provided advice to a client to avoid investing in a coffee franchise due to the poor return in investment and high capital obligations. Surprised that most retail cafes struggle to achieve greater than 5% net profit, Sam couldn’t see why it had to be that way? After conducting some research and a lot of chats over coffees he decided to put his money where his mouth was and purchased a second hand food trailer which soon evolved into a new paradigm in Australias world leading Coffee Culture

Our approach to business has shown that there are already alternatives to operate in a more socially responsible, environmentally sympathetic way.

Initially operating using a traditional power source of a petrol generator, we were able to deliver consistent great tasting coffee. By partnering with local suppliers we were able to maintain a relatively low carbon footprint, ensuring our stock didn’t spend more time in transit than absolutely necessary. To date 90% of product used are either produced, or have distribution centres within 3km of our sites.

In late 2021 we transitioned with the help of Petersons Engineering to a lithium battery power source, latter adding solar. This transition resulted in a $6000 pa saving relative to fuel to run the generator, and a reduction of co2 emissions of 9 tonne a year. More recently we have Partnered with Startup Potential energies to help grow the use of this new battery applications for mobile applications. With plans for 2 more battery powered cafes to be operational by mid 2023.
